Preparation for a Holter.

There is no need to anything different from your normal routine to prepare for your Holter Monitoring. You may eat a normal meal beforehand and take all of your medications (if any) unless your doctor tells you otherwise. It is helpful if you do not use any heavy creams, lotions, or oils on your chest on the day the Holter Monitor is attached to you.

Is Holter Monitoring safe?

Holter Monitoring has no known risks. There are no x-rays used and there are no side-effects from Holter Monitoring. Some people have noticed that their skin becomes slighly irritated by wearing the electrodes for 24 hours. The electrodes are hypoallergenic, however.

When and how will I learn the results of my test?

Please check with your doctor's office to find out how the test results will be communicated to you.
